In Detail
Discover why La Palma is known as the “Isla Bonita” (The Beautiful Island). Our excursion begins by picking you up at your hotel to head to the port of Los Cristianos, where we will board the ferry that will take us across the ocean to Santa Cruz de La Palma.
Our route begins with a stroll through the charming historic center of the Palmeran capital. Its cobbled streets, famous wooden balconies, and strong colonial atmosphere will immediately transport you to another era.
Next, we will head to the Royal Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Snows (Virgen de las Nieves), the island’s patron saint and the oldest Marian image in the Canary Islands, a place full of peace and devotion. From there, we will take the island’s ridge road to the Cumbrecita Viewpoint, where we will enjoy an impressive panoramic view of the Caldera de Taburiente National Park, an invaluable treasure of geological and biological diversity.
The highlight of the day will arrive in Tajuya, where we will approach one of the most striking places in the Canary Islands: the new Tajogaite volcano (Cumbre Vieja). Formed after the historic 2021 eruption, this recent and breathtaking landscape is a living testimony to the power of nature. We will learn how this phenomenon changed the island and impacted its inhabitants.
After the volcanic visit, we will head to the west coast to enjoy a delicious lunch in a typical restaurant, where we will taste the local flavor before returning to the Santa Cruz dock to take the ferry back to Tenerife.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is it so important to bring the original ID or Passport?
Because to get to La Palma we must take a maritime ferry. By international transport law, the shipping company requires all passengers boarding to be identified. If you do not bring your original physical document, the port authorities will not let you board and you will lose the excursion.
What is the difference between booking from the North or the South?
The tour of La Palma, the boat, and the food are exactly the same. The only differences are the price (due to the bus transfer distance in Tenerife) and the total time spent:
- From the South: Pickups are a bit later and the total duration of the day is around 11 hours.
- From the North (Puerto de la Cruz): Having to cross Tenerife by bus to get to the port, pickups are early (approx. 06:00 AM) and the day is extended to about 15 hours in total.
Will I get seasick or carsick during the excursion?
Unlike other closer islands, the boat trip to La Palma takes about 2.5 hours each way. In addition, we will travel along mountain roads by bus. If you are prone to motion sickness, we highly recommend taking a preventive pill like Biodramina 30 minutes before setting sail.
Can we get close to the lava of the new volcano?
For reasons of strict safety and conservation, it is not possible to walk on the recent lava flows. What we will do is visit the best enabled viewpoints (such as Tajuya) from which you get an impressive and breathtaking panoramic view of the Tajogaite volcano cone and the trail of the 2021 eruption.
What kind of food is served for lunch?
Lunch consists of a set menu in a local restaurant on the west coast. If you are vegetarian, vegan, or have any food allergies, please clearly indicate this in the “notes” section when booking so the restaurant can prepare an alternative for you.
