In Detail

You can’t leave the Canary Islands without discovering the magical island. Our adventure begins by picking you up at your accommodation (whether in the North or South of Tenerife) in a comfortable air-conditioned bus. We will head to the Port of Los Cristianos to board the ferry that will cross the Atlantic to San Sebastián de La Gomera, the capital and main port of the island.

Once we disembark, our great ascent by road will begin. Our first photo stop will be at the Degollada de Peraza Viewpoint, which offers impressive panoramic views of the deep Gomeran ravines.

We will continue the route passing through La Palmita until we enter the jewel in the crown: Garajonay National Park, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This prehistoric laurel forest, always embraced by a mysterious mist, will make you feel like you’re walking through a movie set.

When it’s time to eat, we will visit the picturesque villages of Las Rosas and Agulo. Here we will enjoy lunch in a traditional restaurant that will not only delight us with local gastronomy, but will also provide a live demonstration of the famous Silbo Gomero, an incredible whistled language unique in the world.

If time permits, we will pass by the “Juego de Bolas” Visitor Center before starting the descent through the lush Hermigua Valley.

We will end the day back in San Sebastián, where you will have the opportunity to walk the same streets that Christopher Columbus walked before his departure to the American Continent, admiring historical monuments such as the Torre del Conde and the Casa de Colón, before taking the ferry back to Tenerife.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is it so important to bring the original ID or Passport?

Because to get to La Gomera we must take a maritime ferry. By international transport law, the shipping company requires all passengers boarding to be identified. If you do not bring your original physical document, the port authorities will not let you board and you will lose the excursion.

What is the difference between booking from the North or the South?

The tour of La Gomera, the boat, and the food are exactly the same. The only differences are the price (due to the transfer distance in Tenerife) and the total time spent:

  • From the South: Since the hotels are closer to the port, pickups are a bit later and the total duration of the day is around 10 hours.
  • From the North (Puerto de la Cruz): Having to cross the island of Tenerife by bus to get to the port, pickups are earlier (approx. 06:00 AM) and the day is extended to about 14 hours in total.

Will I get seasick or carsick during the excursion?

If you are prone to motion sickness, we highly recommend that you bring a preventive pill like Biodramina. There are two moments when you might need it: the 50-minute boat ride and, above all, the bus ride through La Gomera, since the island is formed by deep ravines and the road has many curves.

What kind of food is served for the included lunch?

Lunch consists of a set menu in a traditional Gomeran restaurant. It usually includes a starter (such as stew or soup), a main course, wrinkled potatoes with mojo, dessert, and water or wine. If you are vegetarian or have food allergies, please indicate this in the “notes” section when booking so an alternative can be prepared.

Is it very cold in La Gomera?

Although the climate in the Canary Islands is mild, Garajonay National Park has a particular microclimate. Being a humid forest at altitude, it is almost always covered by a mist known as a “sea of clouds.” The temperature up there drops considerably compared to the coast, so it is essential to bring a warm jacket or sweatshirt.
